Swaziland Far From Reaching First World Status, Joke's On Who?

King Mswati's goal was for his country to reach First World Status by 2022, and now it seems that the likelihood of that happening is very low. Since everything he says is considered right and true, being umlomo longacambi manga or the mouth that never lies, it's almost funny to see the country as developed as he said it would be. With that in mind, is the joke on King Mswati or on the people of Swaziland at this point?

Blurry

It’s one thing having an objective and keeping it to yourself. It’s another thing telling the world your goals and then failing to live up to them. Here we are in a situation where the king seems to have been less than accurate concerning the destiny of his nation. Whether we are to say he was mistaken or whether he was in fact misleading the people, that’s a discussion on its own. The fact remains, Swaziland is not even close to becoming a first-world nation.

It’s not enough to talk about your goals. It’s necessary for one to take the necessary steps to achieve those goals. What has the king done to make sure his country develops at a rate that would have seen Swaziland become a developed nation in 2022? The actions determine whether one's goals are fulfilled or not, talking doesn’t really achieve anything. You can talk about a vision all you want, but as long as you aren’t working towards making that vision a reality, you’re just playing games.

Perspective

He was called a visionary when he came forward with it. He was hailed as a king that wants the best for his people and his nation. When the lion roars, nobody can dare to question it. Little did anyone know that poverty would still be rife in the kingdom, with no hope of serious development anytime soon.

There are many issues in Swaziland. The cost of living is unbearable for many emaSwati. The economy isn't doing too great. Hundreds of thousands of emaSwati are jobless, the people don't benefit much from the abundance of natural resources in the country. There was just no way Swaziland was going to reach First World Status at the rate at which things were being done.

Do you think the joke is on the people of Swaziland or on King Mswati? Is there any way the king’s vision may still be possible or is it simply out of reach at this stage? Would you believe anything else the king might promise in the future? Expose your thoughts in the comments below, share with a visionary, and FOLLOW FOR EVERYTHING SWAZILAND!
