Open Letter To Swaziland's Royal Family

Your Majesties, I know the current regime in the Kingdom of Swaziland puts food on your plate. I know you get money from the government and you enjoy privileges beyond the reach of the average liSwati. Be that as it may, I implore you to look at the situation in the country right now. Do you want to have a place in the new, free, and democratic Swaziland? Then I urge you to conspire against the head of your house, the one you call Mswati.

Pick a Side


We want to applaud Princess Dlalisile for ignoring the usual script given to members of the royal family. You have done well for expressing your concern over the people that were killed during the two-day protests. I hope comrades recognize your contribution. As for you Prince Sihlangusempi, we urge you to make use of your position in the army for the sake of a mutiny. It is the national security forces that are the king’s last line of defence and we know that if you can convince them to take him down, they just might.


Many emaSwati have fallen out of love with him. They see him in a different light now that emaSwati have been killed by the Royal Swaziland Police and the Umbutfo Defence Force. The struggle is very much alive, and rebel leaders are plotting a way forward as we speak. They won't rest until the kingdom gets the freedom they think it deserves. There'll be more violence until something changes.



Right Side of History?


You know that what Mswati is doing is wrong. You know that he is oppressing the people. You know he’s holding the country back. Why don’t you hold hands together as children of King Sobhuza and get rid of this arrogant man? Why didn't you stand in solidarity with the people whose country it actually is? Know that silence gives consent and the more you refuse to condemn Mswati for fighting democracy, the more the people will despise you.


So what are you waiting for? What’s stopping you from dethroning this arrogant dictator who takes the nation’s wealth and says it's his? When will you open your eyes to the reality of the country; when someone burns your precious palaces?
